Shopping cart
With the shopping cart on, customers can collect several products and check out once. You receive a single order that contains every product, not one order per product.
The cart is off by default. It adds a step to checkout, so if you run ads that send customers to one product, you may prefer to leave it off.
The shopping cart is not included in the PAYG and Starter plans. On those plans its card in Apps shows Locked. See Subscription and billing.
Turn on the cart
- Open Apps.
- Click Shopping Cart.
- Turn on Enable the shopping cart.
- Click Save Settings.
If you see The shopping cart is not included in your current plan., your plan does not include it.
What customers see
- On a product page, an Add to cart button appears beside the order button.
- On product cards in your storefront's lists and collections, a + button adds the product to the cart. For a product with options, such as size or color, the button opens the product page so the customer chooses the options first.
- A cart icon appears in the storefront navigation. It opens the cart page, where the customer changes quantities, removes products, sees the items subtotal and fills in the checkout form.
The storefront shows these labels in your storefront's language.
The Add to cart button does not appear on landing pages, which keep their single-product order form. It also does not appear on a product that has custom fields.
The order you receive
A cart checkout creates one order in Pending with one line per product. Handle it like any other order; see Orders and order statuses.
If some products in the cart cannot be delivered together in one order, the customer is asked to remove one of them or order them separately.
Good to know
- The cart is saved in the customer's browser, for your store only. It is not shared between devices.
- Checkouts from the cart page are not saved as abandoned orders.
- Fake Order Guard and the Blacklist Manager apply to cart checkouts as they do to any other storefront order.
- If your plan stops including the cart, it disappears from your storefront even if the switch is still on.
